When and where will the Roller Hockey World Championship Montreux 2007 take place?

How many players and delegates will be at Montreux
More than 300 players and delegates from 16 countries.
How many matches can we watch?
48 matches during 8 days of competition.
How many spectators are expected?
15'000 spectators.
How many spectators can the Pierrier Hall accommodate?
2'000.
Where can I park my car?
We anticipate parking will be available between the exit from the highway and the venue, but we advise you to use the excellent public transport, train and bus.
How much do tickets cost?
Depending where you sit: (Swiss Francs) CHF 20.- CHF 40.- for each event (4 matches per event), day or evening.
Evening Finals Events are slightly more expensive: (Swiss Francs) CHF 25.- CHF 50.- for each event (4 matches per event).
Is it possible to buy different season tickets for the Roller Hockey World Championship Montreux 2007?
1) General Season Ticket: valid for all 48 matches, 13 Events, of the championship. Prices vary between CHF 135.- CHF 300.-.
2) Season Ticket for all the Final Matches: valid for 24 matches. Prices vary between CHF 100.- CHF 220.-.
3) Season Ticket “Follow my Team”: valid for all 6 matches played by your favourite team which you wish to follow, as well as for the other matches taking place during the same events as your team plays in, a total of 24 matches. Prices vary between CHF 100.- CHF 160.-.

What other interesting activities are there besides the matches?
Conferences, different seminars and organised activities for the young - our goal is to promote roller hockey as a sport for the more than 1,500 young people who are expected!
Will there be anything to eat and drink?
Certainly! Numerous stalls offering culinary delights to tempt the taste buds.

Will this championship be beneficial for Montreux?
Certainly! 300 players and delegates will occupy 150 hotel rooms, namely, 3,000 nights, and have the opportunity to discover our beautiful Riviera, its attractions and shops.

When did you decide to organise the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP?
2004.
How was the idea born?
During the 1980’s our seniors could only dream about it, but they encouraged us to bring it to reality.
What is your mission?
We can sum it up in four dynamics: concentrate on grand spectacle and colour; engender a dynamic and enthusiastic public image; promote sport in general and roller hockey in particular; and be recognised as the best events organiser!
What is your budget?
CHF 900'000.-.
How many committee members are there?
About 40.
How many volunteers do you need for an event like this?
250 volunteers.

Can I watch the matches on TV?
Replays will be televised in different countries courtesy of a Portuguese production unit.
Where will the opening ceremony take place?
The public Opening Ceremony will take place on the Place du Marche at Montreux everyone is welcome.
What security will be in place?
We have asked people who have experience of security to please assist us. We also rely on the goodwill and sense of fair play of supporters so that this WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP will be a celebration, a festival.

Can I meet players to ask them for their autographs?
Certainly. The players are most approachable.
How can I buy souvenirs?
Souvenirs will be on sale at Pierrier Hall during the championship.
Can I find posters of the different teams on site?
In principle yes, especially for teams which are sponsored by an equipment supplier.

2 half-times of 20 minutes
Who decided the composition of the 4 groups of 4 teams?
We used the classification of the last Championship in San Jose (USA) 2995
ROLLER HOCKEY IN SWITZERLAND
How is roller hockey regarded in Switzerland?
It’s the amateur sport which enjoys the highest international ranking (5th in the world). The federation and clubs do excellent work, bearing in mind few affiliates and the small impact our sport makes on the media.
Which teams are the leading lights in our championship premier division?
Geneva, Wimmis, Uttigen and Montreux.
What is the standard of the Swiss team?
Exceptional, bearing in mind the number of clubs and affiliates. Switzerland is the top amateur country.
Where are they lying internationally?
2nd in Europe and 5th internationally.
Roller hockey is a fast and virile sport. Is it also linked to women?
Yes, for a number of years women’s teams have existed. Their level of play is advancing rapidly.
When and where was roller hockey born?
The first records of hockey date from between 1850 1875. The sport originated in the Duchy of Kent, England. The first rules of the game were written in 1875 by The Men’s Hockey Association of London.
A Scoop!
A Swiss, world ski champion, played roller hockey before he ever went skiing. It was in Montreux during the World Championship. You can be photographed with him and ask him for an autograph
